Did I mention heavy lifting earlier? Yeah.
I spent the week going through STAR DOOR and going back over the history, the timelines, the characters. There are still decisions to be made, tough ones. I know there will be some scenes being reforged into a single scene, a few others being dropped. I also have an unsettling decision to be made regarding the main character’s immediate future.
It’s weird. I move backwards and forward in the plotting of this novel, and the root of this mess is that I don’t have a clear ending in sight. (I have one starting to coalesce, but it’s not nailed down yet.)
Hell or high water, it’s back to word count/raw production tomorrow. I will write my way out of this plot knot if I can’t bloody well plan my way out of it.
