I am leaping over to WordPress because I am faithless to computer programs (Scrivener/Liquid Story Binder/PageFour, Safari/Firefox, etc.), and blogs are no different.
I was mostly sold when I found I could import entries from other services like Blogger and LiveJournal. Blogger was seamless, and really I’ve never found fault with the system, but LiveJournal [...]

Progress In Teeny Bite-Sized Pieces
After pissing and moaning and generally procrastinating, I finally got down to typing in my notes for Spirit Cats from this past week. I’ve blown whatever time I might have had to write new material on my ‘weekend’, but I made some changes here and there, added a teeny bit, and went back and corrected [...]

Tools
I’m switching back to Liquid Story Binder.
Why? Originally I left the program because I played too much with the ‘goodies’, all the little settings and preferences, getting nothing done. I’m a tweaker, I’ve come to realize, a fiddler, a noodler. I thought a bare-bones program like PageFour was just what would cure those time-wasting [...]

Last Touches
I’ve finished the imports. There was only a few things I had to move over manually, the dossiers (cut and paste and cut and paste) and one builder that I’d used for a short story. Turns out I was using the builder a little wrong – you can use it to write a [...]

That Went Well
Surprisingly well.
I’ve imported all the ‘easy’ documents from LSB into PageFour. The things I have to port manually are bits from the builders, the character dossiers, and the outline. The latter is particularly important, because I had mostly hammered out the Spirit Cat outline in it earlier and I will need to [...]

Skewing the View
Firefox is more or less ready to go. I’ve ported over some writing links, and will likely pull over my research links into the Favorites for it, but otherwise it’s a nice, clean, streamlined browsing experience for me that is far less distracting than the bloat and incompatibilities of IE7.
(All right, I do admit [...]

A ‘Dear John’ Letter to LSB
Dear Liquid Story Binder (LSB);
I love you. You know that, right? You were the one I wanted from the beginning, if I couldn’t have Scrivener. You had all the bells and whistles, you had sequences and note cards and dossiers and picture galleries and play lists and color schemes and so much more. You had [...]

More fiddling …
Playing around with the font size on the computer. I’m going blind trying to read the teeny, tiny type. Of course, you can only select one of two settings for the font size in Vista, and it mucks up the teeny graphics when you choose the larger setting. Oh well.
Back to work [...]

The Din In Here Is Crazy
Lesley wants to collaborate on a web-comic about something. With such a gigantic canvas, and no starting point, my mind went plonk. I flipped through some old ideas of mine, trying to see if anything would stick, but neither of us really went for anything.
Then she threw out a pink dragon named Candy Floss.
And I [...]

It is done!
I have cleaned up the old laptop, convinced Todd to pick up a new (and very roomy) USB memory stick, and installed LSB onto the zip drive.
What else yet remains?
I want to create a single ‘book’ for my ongoing short stories. There’s just not enough room in the Library menu for novels-in-progress and stories-in-progress and [...]
